Extra keys

I have a keyboard with extra keys for macros and stuff but I don't know the keycodes for these keys, tried xev but it doesn't do any thing. How do I get the keycodes?

Re: Extra keys

Please try and include a little more detail in your post so people can assist you. Things like the type of keyboard, the DE/WM you are running, what "xev doesn't so anything" means, etc...

http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/im … /bw333.jpg Razer Blackwidow, it's those keys on the left
I'm running awesome-wm. Running xev doesn't change the command window so to say, when I press for example E it changes but when I press those macro keys it doesn't change. Also ran showkey in console but it the same as with xev.

Re: Extra keys

first, you'll need some drivers for that macro keys.. and I don't think you will ever find a driver for linux, unless you write it yourself. I also use a multimedia keyboard with 54 macro keys, but I can't use one of them.

Re: Extra keys

Are there any scancodes showing in dmesg (as per the wiki article I referenced)? If not you are out of luck and would have to write your own driver as JokerBoy suggests.

Re: Extra keys

dmesg gives me this:

[ 131.832701] [drm] force priority to high
[ 132.033345] [drm] force priority to high
[ 132.105376] [drm] force priority to high
[ 133.365012] hda-intel: IRQ timing workaround is activated for card #1. Suggest a bigger bdl_pos_adj.
[ 147.585636] chromium-sandbo (1511): /proc/1509/oom_adj is deprecated, please use /proc/1509/oom_score_adj instead.

Re: Extra keys

No scancodes there, assuming you have the latest dmesg after you've pressed those keys. That means you're SOL.
