Connecting to ad-hoc

Hi guys,
sorry if this was already asked, i searched and couldnt find anything.
Using wicd or NetworkManager i cannot connect to a ad-hoc network (htc evo shift), although using CLI (ifconfig etc) i can.

Any ideas or suggestions?
