I'm having some problems with imap and gmail in Evolution. There is a problem when retriving new messages it seems. The problem is that I recive a mail(checked by going to gmail.com) which Evolution hasn't recived, tried to make Evolution retrive all mails still nothing, even after a restart of evolution it still couldn't get it. Then I started Thunderbird which was capable of retriving the message, then all of a sudden Evolution also retrives it. Has anyone experienced something similar or have a solution? Gmail is configured to use Imap+. Not sure if I should make a bug repport upstream or not, tried searching bugtracker but couldn't find anything that resembled my problem.

I was having all kinds of problems after upgrading Evolution. Error messages about send folder or something. What I did was just delete all the dot files and configuration files associated with Evolution and reconfigured it. It works fine now (I also use gmail) and it also grabbed all of my old contacts so it wasn't too bad. I think it might be more of an upgrade problem than anything else. Did you try that? Starting fresh I mean.

Thanks for the reply. My setup is a clean instal so I don't think it might be the same problem, but I will try anyway

Strange indeed. I just checked my gmail settings and nothing interesting there either. If you expand your email folder in Evolutionb and look in "All Mail" is your mail there?

Yes, it is in there, and visible... Strange

Interesting. If you right click your email address in Evolution and remove "All Mail" from your subscriptions and send a test email to yourself does it land in your inbox? One thing I did forget to mention is that I disable all the spam filters in Evolution and let gmail do that for me. Not sure if that will make a difference.

Ok, more strange stuff. Just marked the message as junk in Thunderbird, then unmarked it and now it shows up in Evolution.

Has Thunderbird been open this whole time?

The problem started before I started to use Thunderbird. I'll try to use Evolution for a cuple of days and periodically check Gmail.com, maybe the problem has gone away. Thanks for all the help

FWIW: I have never used Evolution until upgrading to Gnome 3. I have always used Thunderbird. After switching to Evolution, I have seen similar issues -- mail not showing up, mail showing up but not being retrieved/readable, etc. Whenever this happens, all I have to do is open Thunderbird and check for new messages, then Evolution will work for a while again.
I'm going back to Thunderbird. Evolution simply seems "broke" to me.

The problem for me seems to be Evolution filtering messages, turned off all filtering and now it seems to be behaving
