Upgrade from Arch 2010.05 to Current [solved]

Have just installed ArchLinux 2010.05 32bit.  I have a working system (not installed a desktop yet) but it appears I am using a slightly outdated system.
What is confusing me is that distrowatch is calling "current"

ttp://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=arch

I have a 2.6.33 kernel and gnome 2.30 is offered to be installed.
After updating  with:

pacman -Sy

has updated the system and now I have kernel 2.6.34 not the latest.

I've looked on the wiki but possibly wrong place:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Of … positories

If someone can enlighten me, sorry for my ignorance, thanks in advance.

Did you remember to do

pacman -Syu

rather than pacman -Sy

Thanks for a fast reply, I believe so, i will try again and post back.

Will the command:

pacman -Syu

sync to the latest realease so I have the latest packages e.g. Gnome 2.32 kernel 2.6.38 etc?

That command will check the package databases are up to date and then to upgrade any packages that are not current. You may also want to check you've chosen a recent mirror in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

The latest Gnome release in the Arch repos is Gnome 3 and not Gnome 2.32. Make sure you are using an updated mirror.

Choose one from here and put it in your mirrorlist.

Guys thanks for your help, problem is solved. Just newbies luck, I could not find a repo for United Kingdom
(because its under Great Britain) so I used a couple of Belgian mirrors. These were outdated, I'll see if I can append
[solved] to my first post, thanks for very fast help.
