k3b and fstab

How do I set fstab so that k3b could see blank cds I am inserting? Right now it can't even though written cds are automounting fine.

/dev/cdroms/cdrom0 /media/dvd auto ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0

Re: k3b and fstab

The /dev/cdroms/* symlinks should have been removed with a recent udev update. Try /dev/sr0.

Re: k3b and fstab

This is what I get when I insert blank CD:

Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with:
Unprivileged user can not mount NTFS block devices using the external FUSE
library. Either mount the volume as root, or rebuild NTFS-3G with integrated
FUSE support and make it setuid root. Please see more information at

Re: k3b and fstab

you don't even need a fstab entry to make k3b work. also consider adding yourself to optical group.

Re: k3b and fstab

For whatever it's worth - - I'm using KDE and my dvd drive disappears and reappears on a fairly frequent basis. I've been chalking it up to updates which I tend to do daily. If, when my dvd does reappear, I would just leave the system alone I'd probably be fine. It's frustrating. I run k3b every reboot to see if I can actually burn disks this time! Yes, I'm in optical smile
