A little question about configuring a static ip

From the archwiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … ng_Network

Edit your /etc/resolv.conf like this, substituting your nameservers' IPs and your domain name:

nameserver 61.23.173.5
nameserver 61.95.849.8
search example.com

search example.com <--- what's this line doing in this example? what do I need it for? does it matter if I just leave it out?

Re: A little question about configuring a static ip

Have a look at

man resolv.conf

In general, the Arch wiki is a good resource, but it's not the only one. It's good to look elsewhere also - man pages, online docs, or just google.
