Apache Web Server Not Online

I have LAMP installed on my arch linux box. Apache is configured (http://localhost/ from the machine displays the web page), I have a static IP address and it is configured (I can ping websites), but my website is not online and when I try to ping the Static IP directly the host is not found.

Do I need to disable some sort of firewall, or open up some kinds of ports?

Thanks

Probably.

Provide more information; is this a home internet connection? What are the IP Addresses in question?

This is a home internet connection but it is a static IP. The IP is 173.10.226.xxx

Are you behind a Router? If so, make sure you configured your port forwarding.

Re: Apache Web Server Not Online

I am behind a router, I need to know how to release/renew my ip address. Restarting the network with

/etc/rc.d/network restart

does not give me a new IP address (when I'm not using a static IP).

I am pretty sure that I have my port forwarding correct but even if I do change it, I don't know how to "reset" the connection.

Thanks

Need more information, we're not psychic wink

How do you connect? If it's a NAT router then you'll have to setup a port forward to forward to your internal IP. If it's a modem so the public IP is on the server, then you'll need to open firewall holes.... You probably need to open ports in both cases actually..

Give us an overview of your network and how everything connects together, we're just taking blind stabs in the dark at the moment....

Re: Apache Web Server Not Online

Check whether your router supports loopback connections. If it doesn't, you (or anyone within you LAN network) won't be able to see your website if you provide external address, even though it will be accessible for people outside your LAN.
