so.. after upgrading to a newer kernel (i'm currently running 2.6.39), i got an error upon loading modules at startup.
i got some hints that loading modules via rc.conf is now deprecated, so here i am, looking for the new alternative way.
should i list them in /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf ?
or maybe in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and rebuild the image?

Please read carefully, loading modules via rc.conf is not deprecated.

well, then what should i do to assure they're properly loaded, and avoid the error message?

If you did not change anything in rc.conf after update, that could be problem with "vboxdrv" if you have installed VirtualBox. If that is your case, just try to run as root
/etc/rc.d/vboxdrv setup
.
You could also look, what the problem is, to /var/log folder

Core issue here is that you're being vague. Instead of saying "I got an error", say "I got this error", followed by the exact error message as it appeared on your screen. SImilarly, precise details would be much more helpful than "I got some hints".
