alt+tab not properly working

A very strange behavior while trying to switch between windows in kde. Usually I can't switch by pressing alt+tab, but some times I have success, can't find any regularity. I'm using nvidia propireary driver, could it be the problem?

Re: alt+tab not properly working

I don't think it's caused by problems with nvidia driver, I would rather suspect that it's KDE's fault. I don't use KDE but you may tr to check your keybinds. Do you use any additional compositing manager? If yes try to turn it off and check again. Which version of KDE do you use?

Good idea! But how can I check it?

I don't have compiz installed:
[root@main ~]# pacman -Q | grep comp
compositeproto 0.4.2-1
libusb-compat 0.1.3-1
libxcomposite 0.4.3-1
udev-compat 173-3
xorg-xkbcomp 1.2.3-1

I am using kde 4.7.0-1 version

It's a fresh installed Arch. I was just thinking to migrate from Slackware...

Re: alt+tab not properly working

So I found something like that :

Assuming you're using KDE, do Alt+F2 (KRunner) and run systemsettings, then search for desktop effects. In the All Effects tab scroll down to the Window Management section and check that one of the Alt+Tab switchers is turned on (I like the Flip Switch [screenshot (http://www.fedoraforum.org/gallery/file … iginal.png)] myself).

on the other forum. You may try this one or simply read this (bottom part of page): http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Using_KDE/Shortcuts
I've done some research and it seems like more people have similar problem, but I couldn't find any decent solution. You may find this thread interesting: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions … de-487501/, and I strongly advise you to search google for your issue, maybe there's a solution somewhere ;]

Re: alt+tab not properly working

Thank you for the links Gooru! I will study it in a short term. Wilest I found the alt+tab issue exit when I using dual screen Xorg configuration (I need it to my attached TV working). Here is the part of my xorg.conf
Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier     "Layout0"
    Screen      0  "Screen0" 1920 0
    Screen      1  "Screen1" LeftOf "Screen0"
    InputDevice    "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
    InputDevice    "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
    InputDevice    "stylus" "SendCoreEvents"
    InputDevice    "eraser" "SendCoreEvents"
    InputDevice    "cursor"    "SendCoreEvents"
    InputDevice    "pad"
    Option   "UseEdidDpi" "false"
    Option         "Xinerama" "0"
EndSection

these two strings:
    Screen      0  "Screen0" 1920 0
    Screen      1  "Screen1" LeftOf "Screen0"

leads to alt+tab working wierd. I had no porblems with the configuration in Slackware.

If the above mentioned configuration fail, then how can I attach my TV?

One of the best things about using Arch is the almighty wiki big_smile
Since you're using nvidia card just look there: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nv … e_monitors and here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xo … ual_screen
I hope it helps ;]
