Archlinux on a Virtualbox guest and Gnome. 3D acceleration possible?

I've been trying for a few hours to get Virtualbox 4.1.2 to run Gnome successfully on a Windows XP 32 bit host.

It has been a while since I last played around with Arch linux and things were a bit smoother because I was much more familiar with it and of course there was no 3D required on gnome on 2.x versions and I couldn't care less for compiz and so on.

Is it possible to run Gnome with full 3d acceleration on as a host a VBox machine (under arch linux of course)?

If so, how to achieve this?

What I did:

1 - installed arch linux
2 - installed xorg
3 - installed virtualbox guest additions (provided by sun, not the one on the repository - virtualbox-archlinux-additions - although I also tried it and it didn't work)
4 - installed gnome
5 - failed miserably to overcome the messages like vboxvideo couldn't run DRI, falling back or something.
6 - googled a lot and messed up with the virtual machine until I gave up and posted this message.

Thanks
