Tor .onion links don't work

I've installed Tor and it is working. The site check.torproject.org confirms this for me. I can only visit 1 of the .onion sites I've tried though (Tor Libary), the rest of them times out every time. And I know those sites are working so the pronblem seems to be locally.  Have anybody else experienced this problem?

Re: Tor .onion links don't work

What do you use to proxy your requests to tor?

Polipo, like I said it works. I can visit one of those .onion urls, but the rest for some reason times out.

It's not the answer but while you can use the Tor Browser Bundle, downloading it directly from Tor site. It works excellent in Arch without any configuration, just download, decompress and run it (the bundle include a configurated version of Firefox + useful plugins + Tor).

Re: Tor .onion links don't work

Maybe have a look at these two tor parameters in man:
  CircuitStreamTimeout NUM
  TestingTorNetwork
Also, the problem may not necessarily be local, but related to your tor circuit. If the exit node cannot reach the site you want to reach for whatever reason. If it happens, perhaps see whether a new circuit works.
I never tried that .onion stuff, maybe the problem is also related to resolving those.
