I run some forums from an Arch Virtual Machine however I cannot get mail to work. I have installed postfix just to get hold of the sendmail program. When I run a test my forums suggest it went well but nothing is received.
SMTP: localhost
sendmail_from: None
sendmail_path: /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i
Help Results
No errors were returned while attempting to send the email. Check me@example.com shortly to confirm you've received the email. If you don't receive the email, try sending the test to a different address. If that fails, check your mail server's configuration.
If I look in mail.log I see this...
Aug 21 10:19:53 localhost postfix/postdrop[1597]: warning: unable to look up public/pickup: No such file or directory
Ideas?

open
/etc/postfix/master.cf
check for this line. it should be there and NOT commented (no # at the beginning of the line)
pickup fifo n - n 60 1 pickup
then /etc/rc.d/postfix restart

Already in this state. I haven't rebooted since the install of postfix. Worth a go?

have you done /etc/rc.d/postfix restart?
it will create the pickup file if it doesn't exist.

hussam you are the man!
/etc/rc.d/postfix restart
:: Stopping postfix daemon [FAIL]
:: Starting postfix daemon [DONE]
seconds later the mail came though. I presumed that once installed that postfix was running. Cheers man!
