Hello! Short question:
Is it sure that directory "/var/cache/pacman/pkg" contains alle packages, which are currently installed? The man page of pacman isn't "clear" about this.
Why I want to know that:
I'm preparing a install medium which contains all packages from this directory and a *.db file for this files, created with repo-add. That should give me the possibility to reinstall a fresh Archlinux, without internet connection? This will include of course only core, plus all packages from extra and community I have installed but that should be enough.
Rationale: The new ISO files doesn't include [core], hence it is not self-sustaining/self-hosting.
Thanks

It won't be a fresh Arch Linux if these packages are e.g. months old ;P
You can install packages from the AUR the same way. Build them on one machine and move over to the other - assuming it's the same architecture and all the dependencies are met.

Thanks for your link! Much more concise than this one.
PS: Cache is of course, up-to-date.
