Two quick questions: EDD & shutdown showing tty1

I've upgraded to latest kernel. Then followed wiki to replace with systemd. Also searched the forums and resolved a few issues that I had. Everything works great, Arch boots faster and uses less RAM on boot...

However, I have questions:

1) At start of syslinux boot there's a "Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)... ok" I have SSD on my laptop. Is this related? What are pros and cons of disabled/enabled state?

2) From KDE when I click to shutdown it shows a login prompt (tty1) for a while before it powers off. How can I remove the login prompt as I don't need to login, just need to shutdown?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Two quick questions: EDD & shutdown showing tty1

I found this:

Oh and arch was actually slow to boot up, it is always slow on "Probing EDD", I've had this problem on a number of distros.

here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions … 175423857/

So for question 1) to disable or leave enabled?

Re: Two quick questions: EDD & shutdown showing tty1

This is a particularly sh*tty thing to do.  You ask a question, and then when you finally find an answer you simply say you solved it.  Well that does nothing for the community you are asking help from.  In fact, it likely makes other really not want yo help you in the future.

Also, threads are not typically closed unless they have nothing to do with Arch Linux (there are other reasons too, but that is the most typical).  So please be a good member of the community and post the info you found.  Else don't expect help around here.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fo … way_Street

Read that.  Though the whole page is probably in your best interest.
