VLC sound skipping every 9 seconds

Hi,
I wondered whether anyone here had this issue and if they were able to resolve it. I got the sound skipping fairly recently, I think after VLC 2.0.1 and it's not resolved yet with the current VLC 2.0.4-3.
It occurs both in videos and mp3s.
It doesn't happen with the deadbeef audio player.
In movies, the sound stays synchronized.
Others have reported the bug for Windows on the VLC tracker: http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/6498
I have those movies and songs on an NTFS drive, but it was the same when I copied them to my btrfs system drive.

Re: VLC sound skipping every 9 seconds

which phonon backend are you using ?

If you're using phonon-vlc ,  try phonon-gstreamer .

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

(A works at time B)  && (time C > time B ) ≠  (A works at time C)

Re: VLC sound skipping every 9 seconds

Hi Lone_Wolf,
thanks for the suggestion, but I am using alsa instead of phonon. I installed phonon with phonon-gstreamer but couldn't find it in VLC's audio output modules. I also tried doing

modprobe snd_hda_intel power_save=0

as suggested in the alsa wiki for solving popping and cracking but that didn't do anything either.

I'll keep looking.
