When I go into the "Activities" menu in Gnome 3.6, the one with the dock and all the applications, and the window spread, about 1/3 boots the wallpaper disappears and just a black background is displayed.
I can still see my wallpaper when I am not in the "Activities" menu, but not in the "Activities" menu when I go back to it.
The only way to correct this issue is to reboot, then there is about a 66% chance it will work correctly.
Any thoughts?

I observed the same problem one time.
I restarted and now all seems ok.
Check maybe your .xsession-errors when the problem occurs ?

Same problem here. Additionally, for sessions without this problem, sometimes (1/2 of all cases!) the upper ~60% of the activities background wallpaper get all mashed up with some artefacts, looks horrible. The same effect can also be seen on the lock screen.

I never seem to be getting a background image on the activites menu since update to 3.6.

I also noticed that disabling desktop icons (so disabling the desktop management by nautilus) via Tweak Tool renders me unable to change the wallpaper from the default.
Besides, at least since GS 3.6.2, even with desktop icons enabled, I sometimes get the default wallpaper in Activities regardless of the chosen (and correctly displayed) wallpaper on the desktop.

Hi
Having the same issue with 3.6.2-1. For me, background in activities is back if i set the wallpaper again.
Note sure about that but it looks like issue appears randomly after using xbmc for a while (which is opengl). Texture corruption maybe ?
Btw using intel + SNA.
Cheers
