[solved] NVidia GeForce 6150 Lockup

I have happily running a system with this video card for some time. However, the latest nVidia drivers no longer support it and I pinned the driver, nut it's now longer possible to upgrade other packages as Arch can't install several packages without updating the NVidia driver. So I did a clean install with the Nouveau driver. I get  login screen with either KDE or Slim with no problem. However, as soon as I login the system completely freezes either instantly(KDE), or after a few minutes (Xfce). I have used Nouveau drivers with this card in the past without problem.

Googling reveals people have had problems in the past, but nothing recent. Is it new video card time, or can anyone suggest how to get Nouveau to work.

Use the nvidia-304xx packages.

Thank you, that worked. I hadn't realized there were packages for the legacy drivers.
