Hello,
This is going to be a quick one. I downloaded the program entitled exiftool. I have tried to analyse the metadata on a .docx file and it comes up with the following error;
Warning : Install Archive::Zip to decode compressed ZIP information
I understand that I need to install perl-archive-zip package but this comes across as being corrupt.
Please can someone offer some guidance in relation to this? Is there another program with which I can analyse metadata on a .docx file?
Thank you in advance.

Is your system up to date? (when did you last run "pacman -Syu"?)
Please post the exact error message you get when you try to install perl-archive-zip.

Isn't exif only for picture meta-data?
I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...
Look ma, no mouse.

Exactly.
To see docx metadata, try
file filename.docx

Hi Guys,
Thank you for the replies. nomorewindows and x33a - Yes I totally agree exiftool is a program designed principally for image files. However it does give a certain level of detail for non image files such as .docx and .pdf
2Manydogs, you are right - I carried out the instruction pacman -Syu and then downloaded perl-archive-zip, after which it is showing the proper metadata..
A further question.. is there a program which would give an indepth knowledge of, for example the printer from which a document was printed?
More a forensic program..
Thank you for help in advance.

This for example looks like a Canon, that one over there is probably from an HP laser printer ...
Are you talking about printing to a pdf?
