I have a strange problem when playing simultaneously videos in youtube from firefox and using spotify.
I mean:
1) If I start playing videos in youtube from firefox and afterwards I start spotify, it has no audio but youtube continue having.
2) If I start spotify first, it has audio but then when I try to play a video from youtube in firefox, youtube hasn't audio and even video playback crashes.
I have tried the workaround explained in arch wiki:
Simultaneous playback problems
but it is not working.

So, are you using ALSA, or pulseaudio, or a screwed-up mixture?
You should be showing your sound-related configs.

Well, in fact I have a mixture, ALSA but pulseaudio also installed.

My /etc/asound.conf is completely empty.
I have noticed that chromium is working simultaneously with spotify so it seems it is a problem in firefox.

The only file inside the pulseaudio-alsa package is /etc/asound.conf, so it shouldn't be empty. Reinstall the package.

Well, in fact it is not empty but all commented as I don't want to have Pulse audio as default. I want to have ALSA as default so:
# Use PulseAudio by default
#pcm.!default {
# type pulse
# fallback "sysdefault"
# hint {
# show on
# description "Default ALSA Output (currently PulseAudio Sound Server)"
# }
#}
#ctl.!default {
# type pulse
# fallback "sysdefault"
#}
# vim:set ft=alsaconf:

If you want to use ALSA as default, do you then still need to have Pulseadio installed?
No, I don't. How can I uninstall cleanly pulseaudio from my system? It has dependencies such as gnome-settings-daemon, pulseaudio-alsa, etc....
And these ones have others dependencies....
In the arch wiki it is said to comment all lines in /etc/asound.conf file as it is easier than uninstall pulseaudio so for this reason I commented all the lines in the past.

Perhaps you could use https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … are_device.

If one does not use Pulseaudio, then you must use a mixer to allow multiple programs to generate sound on the same sound hardware.
