Boot process documentation

I would like to learn about the internals of the boot process of the installation CD, with a view to hacking it and customizing it for my own needs.  Can anyone point me in the direction of any documentation (or even books) that might help, please?

P.S. I know about Archiso and it's not what I am looking for, for my purposes.

Re: Boot process documentation

The Arch live ISO image uses GRUB for the non-UEFI bootloader (I think) and systemd-boot as the UEFI bootmanager.

All the configuration files are in the usual locations wink
