Hang on shutdown

Hi all,
my Arch is getting better and better by the day. This if my first proper foray into Linux and so far I'm enjoying the learning experience.
I do, however, have one small issue bothering me. Every other shutdown/reboot the system hangs. It will not shut down. Sometimes I can see some terminal text, but it looks bugged, like it's been chopped off halfway down the letters.

Could someone point me in the right direction where to start troubleshooting something like this?

Read the journal from the previous boot (where you experienced the hang).
