xfce shows the secondary screen after disconnecting the 2nd monitor

I have a laptop and I plug in a monitor via HDMI. I have setup xfce with two screens,  just fine.
My laptop display is specified as the primary one.

When unplugging the 2nd monitor however,  xfce starts, the wallpaper, panels and desktop icons it displays
are those that were on the secondary monitor.

Navigating to  settings through right clicking on the desktop, I can see that the widgets (the main panel, that is) of the other monitor are still present, just not shown.

On the link below is a screencap of settings editor -> displays

Settings the HDMI display to false has no effect.

How can I set the content of the laptop display (which is now the only display) to the one it had when I used two monitors?
Thanks in advance.

Go to the panel settings and check the property output-name of the panel in question. There is an automatic mode (empty string in the settings editor) which should always choose the primary monitor to display the panel.

That did it.
Thank you very much.

Re: xfce shows the secondary screen after disconnecting the 2nd monitor

That did it only temporarily, it seems.

I did some more digging around on that, and although my settings seem ok, it does not work. My screen name:

>xrandr -q | grep " connected"
LVDS-1 connected primary 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 193mm

And the panel settings, where I want panel-1 to show during single-screen operation. Is the first line a problem, though?

>xfconf-query -c xfce4-panel -p /panels -lv
/panels <<UNSUPPORTED>>
/panels/panel-1/autohide-behavior 0
/panels/panel-1/disable-struts false
/panels/panel-1/length 100
/panels/panel-1/output-name LVDS-1
/panels/panel-1/plugin-ids <<UNSUPPORTED>>
/panels/panel-1/position p=8;x=683;y=750
/panels/panel-1/position-locked false
/panels/panel-1/size 37
/panels/panel-1/span-monitors false
/panels/panel-2/autohide-behavior 0
/panels/panel-2/length 100
/panels/panel-2/output-name HDMI-1
/panels/panel-2/plugin-ids <<UNSUPPORTED>>
/panels/panel-2/position p=8;x=683;y=749
/panels/panel-2/position-locked true
/panels/panel-2/size 28

I reload with

xfce4-panel -r

But I still see panel-2 on my laptop screen.

Edit: It seems that both panels appear on the screen now.
