[SOLVED] Activate tap to click on Synaptic

On Gnome+Wayland on a Lenovo T430s with synaptic touchpad, I appear to be unable to tap to issue a left-click.
How do I activate taps to click on Wayland for a Synpatic touch pad?

As Wayland is only a library, it is useless on its own. To replace X Server, you need a compositor (like #Weston).

Re: [SOLVED] Activate tap to click on Synaptic

Installing GDM/GNOME installs Xwayland if I'm not mistaken. But it is still a bit foggy to me which settings go where. Probably the synaptic settings are controlled by xorg.conf than. I did copy here the stock synaptics configuration file (70-synaptics.conf) but that didn't enable taps.

Re: [SOLVED] Activate tap to click on Synaptic

You should be using libinput, and configuring libinput with wayland. On GNOME the gnome settings should provide you with means to configure your touchpad, that should propagate to wayland and xwayland (make sure to have xf86-input-libinput installed instead of xf86-input-evdev or xf86-input-synaptics) (I don't use GNOME, so try it out)

Thanks, v1del. I probably am using libinput than. So how would I go about and configure my touchpad?

On wayland the compositor handles input, if you use gnome it is likely going to use gnome's settings

Thanks.
That is so counterintuitive it might need a special warning in the wiki. Over the years I've learned to use evdev, but that knowledge is than obsolete.

Re: [SOLVED] Activate tap to click on Synaptic

Gnome only supports libinput since 3.20 (even on X), and that is mentioned in wiki page for gnome.
