Hello, for some reason my time is incorrect despite having the correct timezone. Why is the UTC set to +0000 when I think it should be +8000?
Local time: Sun 2016-10-16 04:15:23 America
Universal time: Sun 2016-10-16 04:15:23 UTC
RTC time: Sun 2016-10-16 04:15:23
Time zone: America/Los_Angeles (America, +0000)
Network time on: yes
NTP synchronized: yes
RTC in local TZ: no

Are you by any chance running Windows in dual boot setup? How's your hwclock set up?

Nope, running only on linux. Not sure how to check how my hwclock is set up. I think that my Los_Angeles timezone might be screwed up, is there any way where I can restore it?

Hello!
I suggest you consult the Time Zone section in the Installation Guide and the hwclock manual.
man hwclock

It is advised to follow the How to post guide when posting on the Arch forum. If one consciously jumps over these elementary steps like reading the wiki and providing necessary information about the problem, one can be regarded as a Help Vampire.

I'm not sure that's relevant to my current issue. I've already consulted the time page on the archwiki as well as in the installation guide in order to try different hwclock configurations and my problem seems to be connected with the Los_Angeles timezone. Switching to other timezone provides a correct UTC time whereas Los_Angeles simply gives America, +0000.

I've seen that happen before when the timezone file was corrupted, like you said. Reinstall the tzinfo package and see what happens.

Thanks so much! I looked through my package list and reinstalled the tzdata package and now it works like a charm!

Ha, I had confused tzdata and zoneinfo (path where they are stored). I'm glad you figured out what I meant instead of what I said.
