Wifi Drivers, hotspots and master AP mode

Hi,
I am using a broadcom wifi card (details below) and am using the kernel driver wl and kernel module bcma, wl:
I am trying to set up a hotspot on my machine but I keep getting a message stating AP mode is not supported. Hotspots definitely work on windows. I am curious to know if there is a way I can play around with my drivers and get AP mode working.

06:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Limited BCM43142 802.11b/g/n (rev 01)

Is there any other way I can make a hotspot on arch. Used network manager but it only works when the connection is open. The moment I add security the network asks for a username and password even though I have set a username.
