New install will not boot

Hello, beginner to Arch here. I am attempting a new install for the first time.

I followed along with the installation guide, and on reboot I get the error message:

Loading Linux linux ...
error: Premature end of file /boot/vmlinuz-linux
Loading initial ramdisk ...
error: you need to load the kernel first

I guess I shouldn't speculate but the most likely place I went wrong was setting up the EFI boot partition (my system uses UEFI), or in the bootloader (I chose GRUB); but in reality it could have been anything I did (or didn't do).

Based on that error message, can anyone pinpoint where I may have gone wrong so I can investigate what I need to fix and re-attempt it?

Re: New install will not boot

Here's an interesting bit of info from the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GR … ue_console. See the very last note in that section. smile

Re: New install will not boot

Thanks very much, that seems to be my problem.
I'll see if I can sort out how to make that change.
Or I will look at changing to a different bootloader...
