I have laptop with Intel HD Graphic 520. I'm proceding through installing graphic drivers. OK I have went through all the help I could find online. I'm still confused so would like to clear some doubts.
Following is the quote from arch wiki ...
Install the mesa package, which provides the DRI driver for 3D acceleration.
For the DDX driver (which provides 2D acceleration in Xorg), install the xf86-video-intel package. (Often not recommended, see note below.)
For OpenGL support, install mesa-libgl. If you are on x86_64 and need 32-bit support, also install lib32-mesa-libgl from the multilib repository.
Ok so according to wiki I have to install mesa package for DRI driver. Now do I have to install DDX driver (xf86-video-intel) and what about mesa-libgl are they required in addition to the mesa package. Wiki doesn't recommend installing xf86-video-intel driver so is the xorg modesetting driver a good replacement ?
A good explanation is welcomed.

I am using modesetting driver and have only one problem with that, it does not support xbacklight. However I feel it performs better as compared to intel driver (just a personal view).

Ok that could be a problem .. as I frequently change the screen brightness. What about the other packages ( xf86-video-intel and mesa-libgl ) are they required in addition to mesa package ?

You will need mesa and mesa-libgl. Not installing xf86-video-intel, will automatically make GPU fallback to modesetting.

You will need mesa and mesa-libgl.
If a package requires mesa or libgl then they should be dependencies and there should be no need to install them explicitly.

I tried using the xf86-intel driver, but ended up having random freezes on my HD 3000. Modesetting driver "just works" so far, so does backlight via the laptop keys.
