Lately my Windows 10 guest OS has been throwing an error every time I attempt to run a program as an admin. An error box comes up with the full path of the .exe, along with the message "The extended attributes are inconsistent". There is only an 'OK' button, nothing else.
Reading various articles, I could try either a system restore, or an sfc scan. Unfortunately, the sfc scan must be run as an admin so I can't do that option. I did 'reset' the system (which gets rid of all installed programs), and things worked well for about an hour, but now the same issue is back.
Anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions?
Specs:
VirtualBox 5.1.28
ArchLinux version 4.13.5-1-ARCH
Win 10 Home

Disable the 3D-Acceleration in Virtualbox solved the Problem for me

That's it. Switched to 2D-Acceleration, problem fixed.
This is after I did a fresh install of Windows, and problem came up again after installing guest additions. But, switching off 3D acceleration did solve the issue. Thank you!

I'm using older guest additions (5.1.26) at the moment to still get 3D acceleration, and it's apparently fixed upstream and will be working again in the next release hopefully.

Orcale released Virtualbox 5.1.30. As far as I understood the issue should be solved with that.

Yes, with 5.1.30 the issue is solved
