[SOLVED]Displaylink / evdi craches X

Hi.
I've been using an usb screen with the DisplayLink driver for about 2 years now.
After a full system upgrade the X server crashes when starting the USB screen.
The screen actually starts for a second and the crash comes after a second.
I am using I3wm, so I decided to start KDE, which crashed immediately.
I have tried using the intel driver and disable pageflip as stated in the wiki with the same behaviour.
Also downgraded kernel (and rebuilt evdi and displaylink) with no success.

Has anyone else had the same problem recently?

Re: [SOLVED]Displaylink / evdi craches X

Without any more information I'd guess that it's another Xorg 1.20 driver issue. Does rolling back xorg to 1.19 fix it?

Please post logs - xorg, journal, etc

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

Re: [SOLVED]Displaylink / evdi craches X

I have the same problem. Downgrading Xorg to 1.19.something temporarily fixes this. However, after some time, displaylink will stop working and one or all external screens are not recognized by xrandr anymore. There was nothing meaningful in the logs so far.

First of all, Slithery, thanks for the reply.

c0re I found nothing meaningful in logs either, but I post them anyways:
