[solved] mate-settings-deamon using a lot of CPU

Hello everyone.-
I am very new to Arch Linux i have it running in my machine for about a week or so, installed the system, all my apps, a MATE desktop, everything fine but today i made a update to Arch Linux with.-

sudo pacman -Syy and then
sudo pacman -Su

The system updated arround 30 packages, between them linux headers, the NVIDIA driver but i think those were the most important updated. My problem is that when i rebooted the system uses a lot of CPU usage, my CPU monitor applet is showing a lot of activity, my hard disk reads a lot and when i open MATE system monitor it shows that my 4 cpu cores are working a lot, and that i am using 1.2 gigs of memory of 6.8 , which i assume it is not much, the process tab shows normal usage as far as i know (dont know how to display a image here) only Firefox uses 571 MB the others seem normal. Can anybody help me with this? I am really new here, i mannaged to install correctly the system and everything so i guess i am not doing it so bad, thank you !!! big_smile

Oh i forgot when i try to open anything related to MATE, change background, change themes etc i get a error that i will try to translate from Spanish .-
"mate-setting-deamon settings manager could not be inicialized. If the manager of MATE configuration is not running, it is possible that some of this settings may not take effect. This could be a syntom of a problem with DBUS or that the settings manager that is not from MATE (for example KDE) is active and in conflict with MATE setting manager".

Re: [solved] mate-settings-deamon using a lot of CPU

please post the following outputs in code tags:

top -b -n1
loginctl session-status

and also please fix the threads subject: the body says that you've *no* issue with RAM consumption and there's also no indication that "mate-setting-deamon" is any related to your CPU load.

Re: [solved] mate-settings-deamon using a lot of CPU

In system MATE system monitor and in my CPU applet in my menu i can see 2 and a half of my procesors running at almoust 90 % , but anyway, i have read more of the wiki and in the systemd section y found several commands like.-

sytemctl --failed

Which throws that libgl library has a problem and becouse of that mate-setting-deamon was having problems, i think when i did the update of my NVIDIA driver the new update, didnt worked correctly for my GPU.
It was more easy for me to install again Arch Linux becouse i downgraded the driver with the downgrade package with no good results, and removed it with.-

sudo pacman -Rd "name of my nvidia package"

Same problem when i got it running with the nouveau driver, so i re-installed everything, but thank you @seth
By the way i didnt did the code coments in the past becouse i was posting with my cellphone and coudnt find the brackets in the keyboard.
