Hey guys,
I'm new here so please let me know if I'm posting it in the wrong sub-form etc.
I have a media center PC running arch (updated yesterday) with kodi (kodi-standalone-service installed through AUR). It has been running fine for the last 2 months but recently it hanged while playback a few times and each time the host went completely down (couldn't even SSH), it always happened whenever I would pause a video for sometime. Anyway, I would basically do a hard restart and it would be fine, however after the very last hard restart kodi is not starting up anymore. It seems that it can't find any devices to start the GUI session anymore. I haven't done any custom changes to the xorg files etc, everything is done being the kodi-standalone-service. Here are the logs:

EDIT: updated log file and title

You probably want to post this to the kodi>linux forum and also enable debug logging and repost your kodi log there with that enabled.
Note that I am shipping two different services, kodi.service and kodi-gbm.service so make sure you are starting the right one for your kodi packages.

@graysky Thanks! Here is the new post https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=345386. I tried it with setting debug logging but the log is pretty much the same. Also I'm using the service without the "gbm", if that helps.

@graysky the moderator over there is suggesting that I open an issue at your github repo for the AUR package. I wanted to ping you first here. Also here is the updated log after setting log level to debug.

I am traveling and reading logs on my phone is tough. Do you have a DE installed on this machine? Can you verify that kodi starts under the DE running as another user? If it does, copy over /var/lib/kodi/.kodi to that other user's homedir and again verify that it loads. Do this:
As your other user first delete or rename ~/.kodi (NOT /var/lib/kodi/.kodi). Then `cp -a /var/lib/kodi/.kodi ~`

@graysky no problem man, I know the feeling
I don't have a DE installed on the machine, essentially it's a very minimal setup with an arch installation and running kodi on top it. I followed the arch wiki for installing Kodi and for running it as standalone I installed your service (for X11) so I didn't configure any DM at all.

I'm trying to isolate the problem. Having the positive result of kodi running seemed like a good starting place. What does `systemctl status kodi` show when you try to start it? What are your hardware details? Any external GPU or onboard intel?

Thanks for taking the time man.
`system status kodi` is "active" with the following log:
Jul 14 17:52:02 lisarco systemd[1]: Started Kodi standalone (X11).
Jul 14 17:52:02 lisarco systemd[409]: pam_unix(login:session): session opened for user kodi by (uid=0)
I have an Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G4560 processor with ASRock motherboard for mini-PC with an onboard intel graphics (Intel Corporation HD Graphics 610 (rev 04)). No external GPU.
However, I am beginning to think that this might be an HDMI issue. My xrandr output says that it's disconnected:
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 320 x 200, maximum 8192 x 8192
DP-1 disconnected primary (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP-2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
I tried
xrandr --output HDMI-1 --auto
but nothing, screen is black. I tried using another cable but still same.

@graysky sorry for all the bother, it was indeed an HDMI issue after all. I replaced the endpoints (used the one in the TV to the PC and vice versa) and now it's working fine. lol
Thanks a lot for the help, and for your time, making the kodi service, it's pretty great
