GTK File Chooser no longer traversing folders?

Hello,
until a few months ago, in the gtk3 file chooser, I could be in ~ and type parts of a filename located in ~/some/deep/folder and it would be automatically selected.
I just noticed this doesn't happen anymore, and typing only selects matching files/folders in the current folder.
I would be very happy if I could bring it back.
Unfortunately I have no idea where to look. Do you have any tips?

Thanks a lot in advance
p.s. if something like this were possible also in the qt file picker, it would be amazing

Install nautilus-typeahead and gtk3-typeahead from the AUR.

Yes! That did it. It's very sad that they decided to remove the feature without even leaving an option to turn it on.

Thank you very much!
