Disappearing letters in Firefox.

I'm experiencing strange problems with the rendering of fonts in X11 and Firefox in particular. The problem is that letters, mostly "i", sometimes disappear completely behind the adjacent letter. Case in point: A screenshot of a Wikipedia article, as rendered by Firefox:

Notice the words "file" and "definition". This phenomenon occurs mainly in Wikipedia-articles. Most other webpages render correctly.

I have tried numerous settings in /etc/fonts/local.conf, but none of them, including turning on the autohinter, solves the problem.

And, for reference, these are my installed fonts:

local/font-bh-ttf 1.0.0-3
    X.org Luxi Truetype fonts
local/gsfonts 8.11-4
    Ghostscript standard Type1 fonts
local/ttf-bitstream-vera 1.10-5
    Bitstream vera fonts
local/ttf-dejavu 2.15-1
Font family based on the Bitstream Vera Fonts. Dejavu fonts cover a wider
    range of characters
local/ttf-freefont 20060126-4
A set of free high-quality TrueType fonts covering the UCS character set
local/ttf-ms-fonts 2.0-1
    Un-extracted TTF Fonts from Microsoft
local/xorg-font-utils 1.0.3-1
    X.Org font utilities
local/xorg-fonts-100dpi 1.0.1-1
    X.org 100dpi fonts
local/xorg-fonts-alias 1.0.1-1
    X.org font alias files
local/xorg-fonts-encodings 1.0.2-1
    X.org font encoding files
local/xorg-fonts-misc 1.0.0-3
    X.org misc fonts

Any ideas and suggestions on how to solve this problem will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Re: Disappearing letters in Firefox.

I think you either need to set your DPI or DisplaySize for X (maybe both?). See the wiki on how to do that.

Well, I have now tried numerous options, including using the DPI-setting in /etc/fonts/local.conf, but nothing is working.

However, I found that turning off the "Justified paragraphs" option, in my Wikipedia user preferences, remedies the problem. So, obviously it has something to do with the way Firefox handles the justification of text.

Although I wont say that this solves it, as I still want those nice justified paragraphs... So again, any new ideas and suggestions will be much appreciated!
