Num lock light gives wrong info

When I start archlinux, then start KDE, then the KDE desktop loads up, and the num lock light of the keyboard is on.

I indeed want num lock to be on when I log in.

But, when I use the numpad, it behaves as if num lock is off!

Pressing the "num lock" button 1 time or 3 times brings the num lock to the "really on" state.

Why is the num lock light of my keyboard on while the numpad doesn't behave like it?

How can I fix this? I want, that, if I login to KDE, num lock is on, with both the num lock light turned on, AND, the keypad really behaving like it's on (must be able to type numbers).

P.S. This is with KDE 3.5.

Just a shot in the dark here. Do you have numlockx running somewhere?

I actually have this issue as well, and also just press it a few times to fix the issue.
It hasn't been a big problem for me, and I'm not very bothered. You may want to check your bios for numlock settings and see if that may be causing you an issue before jumping at X being the culprit (not saying it isn't).

No this is a KDE4 problem because I'm experiencing the same thing but numlock wprks fine in GNOME.
