Unable to run as user root

I can't seem to run any programs as user root.  When I run gparted, I get the following error:

Failed to run /usr/sbin/gparted as user root
Failed to communicate with gksu-run-helper

Received:

correct password
While expecting:
gksu: waiting

I get the same error when I try to run Root Terminal, except Failed to run gnome-terminal as user root.

Re: Unable to run as user root

Just as an FYI, when running these programs, I AM prompted for the root password in the popup.  The error occurs after the password has been entered.  I am also able to log in as su in a terminal session without errors.  I was able to run gparted while logged in as su in a terminal session.

So it appears to be something with my user group assignments... I'm guessing.

Re: Unable to run as user root

Do you get any errors in the console if you run something like "gksu gedit"?

**back after a hiatus**

Yes, I do get the same error when running "gksu gedit" in the console.

Re: Unable to run as user root

Both SU and SUDO work, GKSU does not.

I have met these problems also before, are you using Openbox or Qingy?
