piping simple info into Awesome statusbar ,need help

Googled a bit and tried to pipe something into awesome statusbar
like this

echo "0 widget_tell mywibox mytextbox1 text `date`" | awesome-client

but ended up with

unexpected symbol near '0'

seeking for help, thanks

I'm not an expert but I think you're doing It wrong . If you want to show some stuff in the status bar , have a look at '~/.config/awesome/rc.lua' .

Installing 'wicked-git' from AUR will help you put some info in the status bar like conky-cli . Read the wiki page and the man page after installation .
