on demand mount?

Is it possible to mount a shared directory or open a directory just on demand, maybe it's not very clear, for example:
you can only access directory a by typing cd a .
it should not show up even when you do ls -a and you cannot remove it by using rm * ?

I wanted to do a search, but I'm not sure what to look for

Re: on demand mount?

Hi, more question... Say for example that I want to mount all the content of /usr/local/ab to /home/willy/ab how can I do it?
in auto.master I have

/home/willy/ab /etc/autofs/auto.ab

What should I put in auto.ab??

ab -rw /usr/local/ab

causes the content of /usr/local/ab to be mounted on /home/willy/ab/ab

Re: on demand mount?

Wouldn't removing "/ab" from "/home/willy/ab" in auto.master work?

Re: on demand mount?

that would cause all of the file in my home directory to disappear because it is now a mount point
