Monitor calibration (KDE4)

Hi,

I've been trying to use System Settings->Display-Gamma (Monitor calibration tool) on my laptop monitor, which is rather bluish by default. I can very easily check it against the monitor of my big box, which for me looks perfect.

Playing with Red, Green and Blue sliders I made it much better very quickly, but the gray on the laptop still looks phony. It's either bluish or purplish, no matter what I do with the sliders.

Can it be hopeless? Is there a way to tackle the issue systematically? Some strategy, so I can say "I did everything by the book; there's no way to improve it further".

UPD:

This article, links included, looks pretty much exhaustive. In time, I'm going to report the results smile ...
