Hi,
Update: It seems to be fixed again in 0.9.9a-3 (arch64).
Recently my vlc lost its xvideo-output module. I fixed it by changed the pkgbuild in abs like so:
*** /var/abs/extra/vlc/PKGBUILD 2009-05-21 06:05:01.000000000 +0200
--- PKGBUILD 2009-05-21 16:52:31.000000000 +0200
***************
*** 49,54 ****
--- 49,55 ----
--enable-shout \
--enable-pvr \
--enable-release \
+ --enable-xvideo \
--program-suffix= \
--with-dv-raw1394=/usr/include/libraw1394 ${EXTRAFEATURES} || return 1
CFLAGS="-fPIC"
Is there any reason why xvideo is disabled by default?

Can't answer your question, just wanted to thank you for providing a solution to the same problem I just discovered. Works perfectly now. :-)

Glad I could help.
It seems to be fixed again in 0.9.9a-3 (arch64).
[peterm@peterm-desk ~]$ find /usr/lib/vlc/ -name *xvideo*
/usr/lib/vlc/video_output/libxvideo_plugin.so
