[SOLVED] Can only start X as root

Since an upgrade a few weeks ago, I haven't been able to start X as a normal user. When I try, the screen turns black and flashes for a few seconds then I get sent back to the command line with this:

X.Org X Server 1.6.1

Release Date: 2009-4-14

X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0

Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.29-ARCH i686

Current Operating System: Linux Rosslap 2.6.29-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed May 20 07:06:02 UTC 2009 i686

Build Date: 15 April 2009 11:09:10AM

I don't see any errors in Xorg.0.log, and my xorg.conf is empty except one section to disable dontzap. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

What if you changed the permissions on the .ICEauthority file?

In the home folder of the user you are trying to start X with.
