I am trying to run Arch (archlinux-2009.02-core-x86_64.ISO) inside vmware. After doing this:
pacman -S xorg
pacman -S xf86-input-vmmouse xf86-video-vmware
pacman -S xf86-input-mouse xf86-video-vesa
pacman -S hwd
hwd -u
hwd -x
cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.vmware /etc/X11/xorg.conf
nano /etc /X11/xorg.conf (change every mouse driver to vmmouse)
startx
I get into X, I can move the mouse, mouse buttons work, but I get no reaction from keyboard whatsoever.
I have searched around these forums, closest thing was http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=56025
I tried the trick in there:
"ServerLayout" section requires line
Option "AllowEmptyInput" "false"
This didn't help.
Please advise...

All right, guess I'll answer my own question:
I got it running by removing xorg.conf (which wasn't working for me) and installing hal (and daemonising it). Could start X after that with keyboard working...
