Resizing partitions with gparted without losing data

hi!

I have two partitions in the hard disk:

- /dev/sda1 - 126 GB where my /home is placed
- /dev/sda2 - 10 GB with no use

I want to delete sda2, and then, resize sda1 to fill the free space left after deleting sda2.

Can parted (gparted) do this, without losing the data stored in sda1? Both are ext3

Thanks!!

Yes... but when doing so /home must be not mounted.

I made it with a liveUSB and it worked. No problem at all.

This comes a bit too late but I have found that just growing a partition seems to work fine almost always, but I would be careful about shrinking or moving partitions, the usual advice is backup before you start.

Usually things work well but sometimes they explode on your face as I have found the hard way sad .
