I recently saw an Ubuntu 9.04 box at a friend's house. I noticed that gnome screensaver has quite a few more screensavers on that box. My Arch box only came with 6 or 7 by comparison. I poked around in the repo but only found xscreensaver; same is true for the AUR. Is there a larger set that I missed or..?
Is it possible to tar-up a directory from an Ubuntu 9.04 install and untar them on my Arch box or is it more complicated than that?

If you install xscreensaver, you can use all their screensavers in gnome-screensaver as well.

This did it! Now the only question I have is how to access an individual screensaver's preferences through gnome-screensaver? When running xscreensaver, there is a button that allows the user to select various options for the screensaver. I can't find an equilivant for gnome-screensaver.
For example, how can I setup a path to photos for photopile and other screensavers that read them?

AFAIK, you have to write .desktop file with all you desired options; at least I have not found better way. Too bad... Here is an example -- my (successful) attempt to run xplanet via gnome-screensaver:
$ cat /usr/share/applications/screensavers/xplanet.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=XPlanet
Comment=xplanet jako screensaver
TryExec=xplanet
Exec=xplanet -vroot -label -latitude 50 -longitude 19 -body moon -origin earth -north orbit -radius 30 -range 10 -wait 30
StartupNotify=false
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Screensaver
