Gnome Brightness and Volume Meter

So, whenever I turn compositing on in Metacity, I get the nice pretty popup with transparent background and all that for volume. However, the brightness popup remains the same as it was before. Now, this wasn't a terrible problem at first, but it's now becoming bothersome, especially since I'm now using notify-osd, and the volume meter comes up in a notification as opposed to Gnome's native display. Has anyone else had this problem/know how to fix it?

Not trying some necromancy, but I'm getting the very same issue and haven't found a solution yet.
I'm using Compiz rather than metacity tough.

Any ideas?

Re: Gnome Brightness and Volume Meter

I'm not sure but perhaps the gnome brightness app is not aware that compositing is enabled (i.e. it doesn't check) whereas the sound daemon does?  Mine behaves in exactly the same way as yours using Compiz.
