kde 4: taskbar color (Desktop Effects disabled)

Hi,

The default black is OK with me, but it's apt to change to blue uncontrollably (after switching on/off Desktop Effects, or just after resizing). Is there a way to make it behave?

no, afaik it is hardcoded in the plasma themes. You can of course use another plasma theme, or just another one for your panel (but this may be a 4.3 feature, not sure)

By some off chance are you loading something that might use nautilus (or using nautilus directly)? I recall one time that all of the panel colors were changed when I loaded nautilus or metacity or something of the sort for some strange reason, without composite iirc (no, it wasnt the wallpaper tinting the translucent panel). Tbh it was kind of better that way.

No, nothing like that.
