I just noticed that ever since version 1.7, Conky $fs_free has been reporting an amount of free space that is several GB too high, compared with df -h. I had to revert all the way back to version 1.6.1-2 to find a version that reported the correct amount. Anyone else notice this? It can't just be me.

I had noticed the same thing a couple of months back: I went so far as to post a question on the conky forum at SourceForge but it went unanswered. I just figured it was one of those annoyances that you had to live with: hadn't occurred to me to roll back that far...

Mine is OK ... mostly.
I get the % correct but the actual size of the HD is off but +/- 1 G.

I asked about this in the official irc channel months ago...
Well, what conky reports is correct. It's reporting the real free space. What you see with df -h is the free space without the root reserved free space which it's 5% of the partition by default. In my opinion it's unnecessary to keep this reserved space for a /home partition for example where processes which use /home are from non-priviliged users. You can tune the reservation percentage with tune2fs -m number /dev/device.
