Run urxvt fullscreen

Hi,

I would like to know if there is any way to run urxvt fullscreen ala gnome-terminal ?
With gnome-terminal you can simply press F11 and the terminal is fullscreen, not maximized!

Surely there is a way to simulate this behavior with urxvt?

Re: Run urxvt fullscreen

Hello
You can do that by WM or just set URxvt.geometry: resolution that you have in your .Xdefaults wink

Re: Run urxvt fullscreen

I tried your solution (urxvt geometry option), but the thing is that I can still see the window decoration and gnome panels on the screen.
I want to simulate the behavior of gnome-terminal.
When pressing F11, the terminal goes fullscreen (not maximized!), it does the same thing as if you were to switch to a tty with ctrl-alt-f1.

Re: Run urxvt fullscreen

There should be a fullscreen option to urxvt if I'm not mistaken, it will cover the panels of your DE too.

Well, for starters, I have 3 monitors, I like having one of my monitor with a fullscreen terminal.
I can't switch to a tty because only  the main monitor will have the terminal, the other two will be closed.

Also, I find quite annoying to resize my terminals to see more lines, I like pressing a button and instantly having more space to work.

I read the man page of urxvt and I found no such option. Could you enlighten me?

Re: Run urxvt fullscreen

I believe the limitation is of the window manager itself (in this case Metacity and GNOME).  Many window managers allow you to maximize any application based on several factors (with and without decorations).  For example, Openbox can achieve this easily, as can tiling window managers.  I'm not sure you're going to find a solution without changing window managers.

Re: Run urxvt fullscreen

Sorry, I forgot that I used wmctrl for that. You should install that (it's a tiny app) and make a little wrapper script that calls urxvt and sets if fullscreen (but then again, like i said, really fullscreen - it will cover all your panels).
