Linux Virtual consoles -- default8x16.psfu

Hello!

Has anybody accomplished to convert the default font for virtual consoles (default8x16.psfu) to pcf or ttf format? If so, I'd appreciate some tips about how to do so, or better yet, a download link to the converted font tongue. There are some scripts and apps out there, but none of them really did the trick for me.

Most of you probably use 'dina' or 'terminus' for your terminals, but I really like the default font that comes with the kbd package and I reckon to be age-old. To my surprise, a readily available version for X was nowhere to be found. I know that the old default font for Konsole was very similar to the default8x16, and I use it currently in my XTerm, but XTerm screws up the rendering of bold charachters. I've tried to disable boldModes and whatnot in my .Xdefaults but to no avail. So, if somebody can alternatively help me with that, I'd appreciate it too.

Thanks in advance!
