Good day.
I hope this is in the right forum. I've installed arch on my desktop and then I've installed xfce and gdm.
Now the first time I logon to the desktop everything works ok, but if I log out and back in again then my panel at the bottom of the screen keeps flashing on and off a few times before finally staying there.
Anyone have any ideas? This is really irritating because I can't use the apps on the panel until it's finished going crazy

Check Settings=>Session and Startup=> Session whether xfce4-panel is there two times. kill one, save session, logout, login.

No, it's only listed once. When I login the very first time after switching on the desktop it works fine.
It's only if I log out and in again that the problem starts.

I believe that is because of some saved session. I've solve a similar problem this morning, I use 2 panels and they were restarting a few times before working properly.
Go to ~/.cache/sessions and delete everything inside. I have done this without xfce running and then started it and it seems to be working fine now.

I have the same problem and deleting .cache/sessions did not work until I logged out and did it from another window manager (the console would do, too).

There are two applications in xfce-goodies that is crashing the xfce panel.I found the applications from the log and removed them. Then the
panel did not crash. One of them is ffmpegthumnailer and i forget what the other one was.
