Thunar problems

Whenever I try to run Thunar, I get this message:

thunar: error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.62: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I checked and Libjpeg is installed and up to date, but for some reason...

warning: thunar: local (1.0.1-3) is newer t han extra (1.0.1-2)

Don't know exactly how that happened. I looked in /var/cache/pacman/pkg in an attempt to downgrade Thunar, but I only found 1.0.1-1, and it says 1.0.1-2 is in extra. I run Pacman -S Thunar, and I get

error: failed retrieving file 'thunar-1.0.1-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz from locke.suu.edu: File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access)

I get the above error for EVERY MIRROR in my mirrorlist. What the heck is going on? I don't know why I'm having problems downgrading Thunar, and I don't know if that will even solve the libjpeg.so.62 problem.

Thanks in advance

Re: Thunar problems

What libjpeg do you have installed?  If you have libjpeg 7, then this is another casualty of that package-as most things do not work with it.

libjpeg-7-1.

So I should downgrade libjpeg?

Well, there is your likely problem.  There's a bit of a stir o'er in the Pacman/Packaging forum over this issue-I'd suggest you read about it...there is no "good" solution as of now that does not break one thing or another, or that does not cause problems later-hopefully we can have something done about this--although these problems seem to be coming from upstream.

Re: Thunar problems

Remove thunar and install 1.0.1-2 version
On that mirror is proper version ftp://ftp.sh.cvut.cz/MIRRORS/arch/

Thanks, Thunar works again!

I'm not sure how I got 1.0.1-3, or why I wasn't able to get 1.0.1-2 from any of the mirrors I was using though...

Re: Thunar problems

Thunar was a bit of a stuff up...  1.0.1-2 was in [testing] and 1.0.1-3 got put in [extra] afterwards without bumping the [testing] version too.  I will fix this today, but until then, just "downgrade" to 1.0.1-2

Re: Thunar problems

Rebuilding Thunar and GIMP against libjpeg 7-1 did the job for both. Had to rebuild poppler, sane and xsane as well...

Re: Thunar problems

I uploaded thunar-1.0.1-4 a few hours ago so should be on a mirror near you soon.

Re: Thunar problems

Seems to be taking a while for the builds and syncing, maybe libjpeg issue could be added to the home page.
